There's no fancy way to say this: space is expensive.
We thought it might be nice to create an affordable studio to produce work or an aesthetically pleasing area to finish writing or a turn key affordable event center.
We all need space, and it's hard to come by these days.
One might say, in general, there is an unmet need for the demand of multi-purpose space.
Parity Hub is adding supply to meet the demand for readily available multi-purpose space; otherwise known as on-demand space.
It seemed like someone should, and so we did.
As a nonprofit, we understand the importance accessible space plays in an organization's ability to achieve its mission.
Because while technology has simplified operations, and at times, expanded services, it simply cannot replace people. In-person human interaction plays a pivotal role in social and economic development. It doesn't matter what way you slice it: the work is always done in person.
Year after year, too many organizations go unsupported, while providing salient goods and services; silently upholding their communities.
They do so without profiteering off the people they serve. They do so without weaponizing people's vulnerabilities as a means to an end. They do so because they hold a piercing and gnawing conviction: micro acts of empathy and compassion are investments into our future. They understand every investment made is part of the legacy we will one day leave behind.
Despite the many institutional and situational obstacles, the people who serve these small organizations show up and do the work everyday. They do so without recognition or praise, and certainly without adequate funding; primarily because large endowments, and fund pledges are typically reserved for "established" and/or national organizations.
Nonetheless, it is well-known small organizations tend to have greater positive causal effects on the communities they serve. They provide their community members with free food, diapers, formula, and an array of educational and vocational workshops
The Parity Hub is an ode to their resilience, and a curated space dedicated to their invaluable contributions and tenacity.
We look forward to hosting their events, and funding their causes.
